ELIGIBILITY

Full-Time Research Scholar

The applicants for admission to the full time Ph.D. Programme should possess any of the following qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in any of the courses conducted by the School/ Integrated Master’s Degree course or its equivalent conducted by any other recognized University/ Institutions with a minimum of 60 per cent aggregate marks or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA). OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Bachelor’s Degree in Planning/ Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent conducted by any recognized University/ Institution with a minimum of aggregate 80 per cent or 8.0 GPA or equivalent grade
    and minimum 3 years’ experience (relevant to the proposed topic) in teaching/ research/ professional practice. OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Bachelor’s Degree in Planning/ Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or its equivalent conducted by any recognized University/ Institution with a minimum of aggregate 60 per cent marks or equivalent grade and
    minimum 10 years’ experience (relevant to the proposed topic) in teaching/ research/ professional practice. OR
  • Master’s Degree in allied disciplines, as decided by the respective Departmental Research Committee (DRC) on case to case basis, relevant to different streams offered in this School by various departments, with a minimum of 60 per cent aggregate marks and minimum 10 years’ experience (relevant to the proposed Ph.D. topic) in teaching/ research/ professional practice.

Relaxation of 5 per cent of marks or equivalent grade considered for SC/ ST candidates, as per rule.

Part-Time Research Scholar

Eligibility criteria of part-time scholars shall be the same as above, specified for Full-Time Research Scholar. In addition, if the applicant is employed, the NOC from the employer is required.

Foreign Nationals

Eligibility qualifications for foreign nationals are the same as stated above. Further, they are required to submit their applications through the Ministry of Education or the Ministry of External Affairs. All such scholars shall be fulltime scholars.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Admissions to Doctoral Programmes are processed twice in a year at the start of either semester (January/July) of an academic session. Applicants may apply at any time prior to the dates notified for each admission cycle.

Application Fee

The admission forms of Ph.D. Programme are available throughout the year on the website of the School but the candidates shall be admitted twice in a year. The application form must be submitted along with photocopy of receipt, after making online payment.

2. Through SBI Collect of INR 2,500 (Non Refundable) for Indian Nationals and US$ 300 (Non Refundable) for foreign nationals/ NRI/ PIO/OCI.

The applicant shall state and submit the following with the application:

  • Proposed Department of Study
  • Broad area of research: nature, objectives and scope of the subject, and tentative title.
  • Other particulars that the applicant may like to furnish regarding the choice of the subject and its importance for research; and
  • Name of the Advisor of his/her choice, if any

FELLOWSHIP GRANT

Fellowships and Contingency Grants are awarded to eligible candidates in accordance with norms laid down by the Government of India, University Grants Commission and the School from time to time.
