Post Gradute Degree Programs

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates shall be eligible for admission to the First Year of the various Post Graduate Degree programmes if they have obtained at least 55 percent marks or equivalent credits in aggregate (50 marks or equivalent credits percent for SC/ ST/ OBC candidates), in the qualifying examination for each programme respectively, as given below:

Master of Architecture

  • Architectural Conservation
    Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Planning from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Landscape Architecture
    Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture or Architecture or Planning or Master’s Degree in Planning or equivalent post- Graduate diploma of a recognized university/institution or certificate of completion of Pre-Landscape Architecture Course of the SPA, New Delhi.
  • Urban Design
    Bachelors’ degree in Architecture or Planning from a recognized University or equivalent.

Master of Building Engineering and Management

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Building Engineering or Architecture or Architectural Engineering or Four Year Building
    Science or Five Year Diploma in Construction Technology or equivalent from a recognized university/institution established by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature.

Master of Design

  • Industrial Design
    Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture of a recognized university or equivalent or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/ Design/ Fine Arts of a recognized university or equivalent with valid CEED score (essential for non-architectural candidates) from approved streams.

Master of Planning

  • Environmental Planning
    Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or Architecture or Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering or Environmental Engineering or
    Master’s Degree in Geography or Economics or Sociology or Environmental Science or Environmental Management of a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Housing
    Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or Architecture or Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering or Municipal Engineering or Building Engineering or M.A. in Sociology or Economics from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Regional Planning
    Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or Architecture or Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering or M.A. Geography, Economics, or
    Sociology from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Transport Planning
    Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or Architecture or Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering from a recognized University or equivalent or Master’s Degree in Statistics/ Operational Research/ Economics from a recognized university or equivalent.
  • Urban Planning
    Bachelor’s Degree in Planning or Architecture or Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering or M.A. Geography, Economics, or
    Sociology from a recognized university or equivalent.

Note

  • A.I.I.A. (by examination) shall be considered as equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture.

Note

  •  04 seats will be reserved over and above the total no of PG seats for Wards of Kashmiri Migrants/ Kashmiri Pandits/ Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non-Migrants) living in Kashmir Valley.
  • 2. 5% seats are reserved for Physically Challenged Persons on horizontal basis, these will be adjusted against the respective reservations for OG, SC, ST and OBC Categories as per provision of PwD reservation.
  • Additional seats, apart from the total indicated above, are allocated for Foreign Nationals (FN - 10 percent), Non Resident Indian (NRI - 3 percent) and Persons of Indian Origion (PIO - 2 percent).

SPONSORED CANDIDATES

  • Candidates sponsored by Central Government, State Governments, statutory organizations and public institutions must be in regular service.
  • A candidate will be considered as sponsored if the sponsoring organization undertakes to provide him or her with full salary or
    adequate financial assistance for the full duration of the programme.
  • Educational qualifications are the same as listed above for each programme, respectively. In addition, a sponsored candidate must also have a minimum of two years’ work experience in a field relevant to programme in which admission is sought.
  • Minimum percentage of marks may be waived for applicants who are faculty members in academic institutions and have been in
    regular service since 28th February 1999.
  • Sponsored candidates may be required to undergo personal interaction with the faculty before selection.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Shortlisted/ Eligible candidates will be notified on the website of SPA and they will be required to appear before the selection committee for admission for interview in person (offline mode only).

  • Performance in Qualifying Examinations
  • Valid GATE/ CEED/ UGC NET Score
  • Portfolio of Work/ Thesis/ Project
  • Interview
  • Statement of Purpose (description of the interest and motivation for the chosen study)
  • Work experience, if any, after attaining the eligibility qualification.

Based on the performance in the interview, performance in the above mentioned criteria, merit list of the selected candidates will be uploaded on the SPA, New Delhi website (www.spa.ac.in) under Tab ADMISSION 2024-25.

APPLICATION FORM

Eligible candidates may submit Application on Google Form through department wise link provided on School’s website www.spa.ac.in along with requisite self attested documents to be uploaded on the Google Form except Portfolio & Thesis. Applicant
SHALL APPLY in only one course of his/ her choice. Applications of candidate in more than one course will be REJECTED.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS AND APPLICATION FEE

An applicant can apply for single programme only. Application fee for PG programme is Rs.2,500 (Non Refundable) for Indian Nationals and US$ 300 (Non Refundable) for Foreign National/ NRI/ PIO/ OCI to be paid online:

  • Through website of SPA, New Delhi www.spa.ac.in
  • Through SBI Collect.

The School reserves the right to reject/cancel any application without assigning any reason to the applicant.

In case all the seats are not filled, SPA, ND reserves the right to have subsequent rounds for admission. The School will release up to four selection list subsequently as deemed necessary subject to availability of eligible waitlisted candidates and vacant seats.

SUBMISSION
The candidates must submit the completed application form by the date specified in the advertisement.
Result Awaited: Candidates appearing for their final year examinations, are eligible to apply provided they meet eligibility criteria and their final year results are published and submitted by 31st August 2023 or as decided by the Authority of the School, failing which his/ her admission in PG courses will stand cancelled without further intimation. In case a candidate is admitted to the course but on declaration of result, does not meet minimum qualifying marks, the admission of that candidate(s) shall stand cancelled and fee will be forfeited.

Kashmiri Migrant Reserved Seats:
04 seats will be reserved over and above the total number of PG seats for Wards of Kashmiri Migrants/ Kashmiri Pandits/ Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non–Migrants) living in Kashmir Valley.

SCHOLARSHIPS

A limited number of Scholarships, will be awarded on merit, subject to the terms and conditions prescribed by Government of India and the School from time to time, for non-sponsored category of students admitted to Post Graduate Degree programmes with valid
GATE and CEED (applicable only for Industrial Design course) score at the time of admission.
