Centre for fire studies

Coordinator: Prof. Dr. V.K. Paul

Year of Establishment: 2019

C-FiRe envisages developing, verifying, and utilizing measurements and predictive methods to quantify the behaviour of fire in contemporary buildings and means to reduce the impact of fire on people, property and the environment. C-FiRe aims to develop and apply advances in fire and structure-fire measurement capabilities and behaviour predictive computational tools, standardized fire testing tools and methodologies, advance fire detection technologies and advance fire resistant materials to enable innovative, cost effective fire protection technologies that increase the safety of building occupants and the fire resistance of building structures and contents.

Objectives

  • To develop teaching and awareness resource material.
  • To undertake workshops and seminars to share experiences and understanding with stakeholders.
  • To advocate for life and fire safety.
  • To undertake academic research activities such as thesis and dissertations.
  • To explore innovations in design, process and solutions that ensure life fire safety.
